You definitely won’t be swapping any Euro 2016 Karim Benzema stickers this summer

Karim Benzema is still under investigation for his alleged role in a sex-tape sting on his international team-mate, Mathieu Valbuena.

After the French football federation suspended the Real Madrid striker in December, it appeared his hopes of playing for France at Euro 2016 had been dashed.

However, a judge recently lifted an order preventing Benzema from sharing a dressing room with Valbuena. This was seen by some, especially the player’s lawyer, as a “first step” towards clearing the way for him to be named in Didier Deschamps squad for summer.

While it remains to be seen if Benzema will be selected by his country, the former Lyon striker defintely won’t be appearing in the Euro 2016 official sticker collection.

According to Robin Bairner, sticker manufacturers Panini have confirmed that Benzema will not have a sticker in the Euro 2016 album. Valbuena will.

Benzema’s trial on preliminary charges of conspiracy to blackmail relating to an extortion scam is likely to take place later this year.
