Your heart will bleed for German football fans after listening to Jens Lehmann

Starved of success?

Poor, poor Germany.

Jens Lehmann assumes punditry duty for the BBC for Germany’s match with Northern Ireland in Paris.

Ahead of the match, the former Arsenal goalkeeper was asked by Gary Lineker about how he thought his country had performed in their opening two Euro 2016 fixtures – a 2-0 win over Ukraine and a goalless draw with Poland.

Despite sitting pretty at the top of their group, Lehmann admitted that he was disappointed by what he had seen so far.

Responding to this, Lineker responded by reminding Lehmann that things weren’t all that bad for Jogi Low’s team having won the last World Cup.

As much as we’re sure that every British football fan will feel for Deutschland after such a long wait for tournament success, ’24 months of hurt’ doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
