A fuck up of monumental proportions
Zavvi, the e-commerce entertainment retail site, has been forced to apologise to thousands of people after accidentally emailing its entire mailing list and informing each person that they had won two VIP tickets to the upcoming Champions League final.
On May 4, the company sent out a tweet with details regarding the competition in conjunction with Champions League sponsors Mastercard.

The winner would receive two tickets to the final, two nights accommodation in a Madrid hotel, return flights, airport transfer and hotel to stadium transfer, travel insurance and a £250 prepaid MasterCard.
While this is a very good prize that one person will eventually win, on Thursday morning thousands of people were under the impression that they were that lucky winner, having received an email from Zavvi.
Thousands took to Twitter to vent their annoyance, with some revealing that they had already told their loved ones that they were going to the final, only to be left with the prospect of having to break the news to them that this is not quite the case.

Do you know how this feels like @zavvi ?
It feels like you took a child's favourite teddy bear and then hugged it and then suddenly popped its eyes out and then ripped it to shreads whilst screaming.#ShameonZavvi #Zavvi pic.twitter.com/1gBZSB8RIz

@zavvi This is horrible @zavvi. Me and my brother have already sent in our holiday requests to work and I've cancelled a weekend in Edinburgh when this arrived. I thought at first it would be a scam but checked the email address was genuine. pic.twitter.com/z7wBQcKAN8

Zavvi issued an apology on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, and blamed it on technical issues.
“Apologies, we’re aware of the problem regarding the recent Mastercard Competition. We seem to have had some technical issues and we’re currently looking into this,” they said.
The winners’ emails were sent out shortly after Tottenham Hotspur sealed their place in the Madrid final courtesy of a stunning second half hat-trick from Lucas Moura which saw them win on away goals against Ajax.
In the final they will meet Liverpool, who themselves completed a sensational comeback – beating Barcelona 4-0 on Tuesday to win their tie 4-3 – in the semi-finals.
