Lynda Baron, the actress best known for her roles in children’s TV show Come Outside and classic BBC sitcom Open All Hours, has sadly passed away at the age of 82.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Baron starred alongside Ronnie Barker and Sir David Jason in the hit show about a Yorkshire corner shop and also featured in the show’s return in 2013.
She then became loved by a generation of children for Come Outside, in which she played Auntie Mabel with her famous spotty plane and canine companion Pippin.
On Monday, her agent Donna French said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved client Lynda Baron.
“She was a wonderful actress and a great friend. Her iconic roles of Nurse Gladys in Open All Hours and Aunt Mabel in Come Outside were loved by all generations.
“Renowned for her leading roles in West End musicals and dramatic productions alike, we have lost a leading light of our world.
“We extend our deepest condolences to her daughter Sarah, her son Morgan and all her family.”

Baron also appeared in EastEnders as Linda Clarke, the mother of Jane Beale.
The soap paid tribute to her on Twitter, saying they were “deeply saddened” by the news of her passing.

She also had credits in Doctor Who, Last of the Summer Wine, Dinner Ladies, The Bill and The Two Ronnies.
