There aren’t many places you can drive through worse than an active crime scene
A naked woman driving a golf cart accidentally drove through a police standoff with armed suspects in Florida.
An arrest affidavit released by the Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies illustrates a strange turn of events in Dunedin, that took place on Sunday.
During a six-hour standoff with armed suspects, a drunk and naked woman drove through their crime scene.
Jessica Elisabeth Smith, 28, was charged with resisting an officer without violence after her drink fueled joyride on a golf car.
The bizarre story began when police were called to investigate a group of suspicious teenagers in the Dunedin area. With police on-site, the suspects fled on foot.
One of the suspects later fired a gun towards bystanders, but no one was hurt. However, reports suggest a suspect shot himself in the leg while attempting to flee.
According to a WFLA report, the suspect climbed onto the roof of a residential home, and that is where the six-hour standoff began. With SWAT then on-site, and the area surrounded with armoured vehicles and air support, a negotiator attempted to talk the suspect down.
Smith allegedly drove the golf fart through the crime scene. According to the statement, Smith was completely naked and refused to leave when approached by officers.
‘The defendant had a distinct odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person, and she was completely nude,” the affidavit reads.
Police also claim that she had the “inability to follow directions put multiple deputies at risk for potentially getting shot at”.
Smith was arrested, but released on the following Monday.
The gunman on the roof was eventually arrested and taken to hospital to address his self-inflicted wounds. Later that day, the two other suspects from the group, 16 and 18, were also arrested.
The gunman, 18-year-old Myles Anthony Abbot, faces two counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, and other charges, reports cbs12.
