The cast just keeps getting better
I remember when I first heard that Cheaper By The Dozen was getting a remake that it seemed very soon to do another version.
Then it hit me that Hilary Duff was a teenager in Cheaper By The Dozen it and she’s now in her mid thirties and that it came out 18 years ago.
I gave myself a moment to feel ancient (what do you mean 2003 wasn’t five years ago?) and then looked at the cast line up for the new remake and it looks stellar.
A little while ago it was announced that Gabrielle Union would be part of the cast and now it has been revealed that Scrubs actor Zach Braff will be joining her.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Zach Braff is said to have closed a deal to star in Cheaper by the Dozen, which is currently being developed for Disney+.
Braff and Union are set to play the parents in the new retelling which centers around the multiracial, blended family of 12.
Cheaper By The Dozen has had a few reincarnations with a 1950s version coming before the 2003 movie that most of us think of when we hear the film title.
This version, set to be released in 2022, will be the first however to feature a multiracial family.
The new Disney+ version, while following a similar plot to the other Cheaper By The Dozen movies, will be dropping the title for the much snappier Dozen.
Black-ish creator Kenya Barris co-wrote the script and is producing the project which will be directed by Gail Lerner.
As it stands no official release date, other than the fact that it is planned for next year, has been announced but we can’t wait until it is.
