Netflix has added video previews to help you choose what to watch

Game-changer.

If you’re one of the people that spend an eternity flicking through the Netflix library before landing on a show or film that takes your fancy, this news should make you very happy.

Fresh from making offline content available for its users across the globe, the streaming giant is now launching a new interface that incorporates video previews.

What’s a video preview? For starters, they aren’t teasers or traditional trailers. They are a specially designed video synopsis that will help you make a faster and more confident decision about the title that you’re planning on watching.

These previews will launch globally today and they’ll be available on eligible devices over the next few weeks.

‘As we launch more than 1,000 hours of original content next year, we know we have less than 90 seconds to capture someone’s attention and get them excited about a title — that’s why we’re introducing video previews into the TV browsing experience,’ Netflix explains in a company blog post.

‘In developing this experience, our testing showed that people watched more of a story, demonstrating these previews helped them browse less and watch more.’

Here’s how it’s going to look.
