Manchester City are to ditch their current black and red away kit for the start of the 2017/18 season, with Pep Guardiola’s men set to be decked out in what they’re calling “claret” jerseys in the next campaign.

Dedicated football kit website FootyHeadlines.com got their hands on the new away strip for City and gave just a glimpse of what fans can expect from the colour change.

The shorts of the new away strip are said to be in keeping with the new colour scheme while one can only assume that it will be the same case for the socks.

It’s noted that the club may be paying homage to the away kit sported during the 1989/90 season, when they finished 14th in the First Division with Howard Kendall as manager, a world away from the Etihad-fuelled powerhouse of today.

Only time will tell if City will be wearing the claret and sky blue getup as defending Premier League champions but they will have to prove themselves a lot more than they did against Chelsea last weekend if they are to do so.
