Ryan Jessen died in hospital in California on November 30. He was just 33 years of age.
Admitted to hospital after suffering from what he thought was a migraine, it was later discovered that he had a ventricular brain haemorrhage and that medical staff were unable to save him.
Shortly before he died, Mollie, his family’s pet boxer dog was allowed into his hospital room to spend a few moments with her owner. Ryan died minutes later.
Shared by Ryan’s sister Michelle on Facebook, the heartbreaking footage has been widely shared across social media in the last week.
‘The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to ‘say goodbye’ so she’d know why her human never came home,’ Michelle wrote.
‘If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog.’
Millions have viewed the video and Michelle thanked those that have offered their condolences.
‘Thank you to everybody for the outpouring of support,’ Michelle added. ‘I won’t be responding anymore. We are sincerely touched and humbled by others’ stories, their sharing in our sadness and the kindness of so many people.
‘Don’t worry about the dog! We’re keeping her! She’s part of the family.’
The incredibly moving video can be viewed below.
Needless to say, our thoughts are with Ryan’s family at this sad time.
