Fernandinho adds to his poor disciplinary record with nasty two footed lunge

He's making a habit of this

Fernandinho is breaking all kinds of records…

..but not the ones Manchester City fans would like.

If Manchester City really want to mount a serious title challenge then they need players that they can rely on to, at the very least, stay on the bloody pitch.

City’s title challenge took a heavy blow with their recent 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Fernandinho spoke of his disappointment in the aftermath of that game where he stated that he hoped his side could “turn it around soon” and “be at the top as soon as possible.”

Fernandinho, however, seems hell-bent on making that aim as difficult as possible for his side.

The Brazilian was sent off in his side’s clash against Burnley – his third sending off in his last six appearances for City.

Some record.

He has also drawn level with a former City hothead, Mario Ballotelli, in the red card stakes.

Fernandinho is the first City player to recieve two red cards in a season since Ballotelli in 2011/2012.

We think it’s safe to say that, with half the season remaining, we may well see Fernandinho surpass the Italian in this regard.

Fernandinho’s latest dismissal was a result of a nasty two footed lunge on Burnley’s Johann Berg Gudmunsson.

What is a further blow to City and Pep Guardiola, Fernandinho will likely receive a four-game ban for his latest indiscretion as it is his third red card in six games.
