It’s not looking hopeful.
On Friday, Harry Potter fans thought they found some good news on a gloomy day.
Rumours circulated that a leaked script revealed that the orignal Harry, Hermione and Ron actors were returning to make a film of the popular play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
This was in part, due to Jim Hill speaking on the podcast Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast, where he said he had heard it was happening.
“I have heard that Warner Bros has actually had conversations with Emma, with Rupert, and, of course, Daniel about Cursed Child, because they want this to be, for lack of a better term, Harry Potter: The Force Awakens.
“They want this trilogy of movies to have the actors that we know and love from the original films, that we watched grow up, as adults.” He said.
This set fans alight with excitement but it was only a matter of time before JK Rowling herself stepped in to comment on the story.
And sadly, it’s not looking good.
As always, the author took to Twitter to speak to fans.
I know a lot of people are looking for reasons to be cheerful today, but there is NO TRUTH to the rumour about a #CursedChild movie trilogy!

”No truth”.
Sigh, we had a feeling this wasn’t the case especially since Daniel told our sister site Her.ie back in October that it was highly unlikely.
“I’m never saying no and closing the door on anything totally, but I feel like it would take a small miracle, I don’t know I just can’t think of at the moment the circumstances that would have to exist for me to go back. It would be weird.” He said at the time.
When fans questions JK Rowling for shutting down the hopeful news, she simply said ‘I value the truth’ while offering some virtual hugs.
I value the TRUTH. (Hugs, though.) https://t.co/IbuyS7ZCFJ
