Former world champion boxer Scott Quigg has made a drastic change to his coaching set-up, dropping Joe Gallagher and moving to Los Angeles to work with world-renowned trainer Freddie Roach.
Roach, who has trained the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan, will welcome the Brit to the Wild Card Gym in California.
The split with Gallagher has been described as ‘amicable’, but Quigg said in a statement that the opportunity to work with Roach was one he “couldn’t pass up”.

Bury-born fighter Quigg lost his WBA (Regular) Super-Bantamweight title to Carl Frampton last year but rebounded with a blistering KO of Jose Cayetano in December to claim the vacant WBA International Featherweight crown.
That victory took his career record to 31-1-2 with 24 knockouts – the only loss coming against Frampton at the Manchester Arena.
‘I believe this move and change will take me to another level,’ said Quigg in a statement, and plenty of people see it as a good move for all concerned.
