Watch Roy Keane tear into “cocky” Jose Mourinho before agreeing on his main transfer target

Unflinching

Roy Keane may not like Jose Mourinho getting his swagger back but they both agree on a player that could take Manchester United to the next level.

During his latest punditry stint on ITV, the former United captain and Ireland assistant manager gave his typically forthright take on a number of issues.

He found Leicester City’s resolve admirable in their 2-1 Champions League last 16 loss to Sevilla but refused to lavish praise on Kasper Schmeichel, who saved a penalty during the tie.

Keane was asked about United marching on in the Europa League after seeing off St Etienne 4-0 on aggregate. Job done, as far as he was concerned, but he did not take kindly to Mourinho’s recent declarations of a team going places. Keane declared:

“It’s a pity really, the guy should show humility, but he’s back to his cocky self. Shame.”

Keane may not be a fan of Mourinho’s pomp but he has no qualms about his main transfer target – Antoine Griezmann. The French forward, who scored another Champions League goal for Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, has been heavily linked with a summer move to United. Keane said:

“He has been fantastic. I have been really shocked at the level he is playing at over the last two or three years. We are seeing the goals on a regular basis, in all the big games, at international level and on Champions League nights.

“He is a really top player and obviously he has been linked with United. What a player he would be for United.”

Having been on the receiving end of a Griezmann brace at Euro 2016, Keane knows just how deadly the French international can be.
