Here’s an early contender for save of the year from Pepe Reina.
Premier League fans will remember Reina from his eight season spell at Liverpool from 2005 to 2013.
He had his first stint at Napoli on loan from Liverpool for the 2013/14 season, then was shipped out to Bayern Munich on a permanent deal the following year. He returned to Napoli on a permanent transfer in 2015 and has been able to nail down a first team slot in the Serie A.
After seeing his heroics during their 2-1 win over AS Roma on Saturday, it’s easy to see why they keep putting the Spaniard between the posts.
In the dying seconds of the game, Reina was almost caught out with a deflected shot that went sailing towards the goal. He shifted his momentum brilliantly to just get his finger-tips to the ball and guide it onto the post.
He still had it all to do with attacking players closing in.
The ball ricocheted back into play, but Reina wisely stopped it with his foot before kicking it out for a corner.
