Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp star in the friendliest touchline disagreement ever

Not what we were expecting...

Simon Lloyd

We’ve seen enough Premier League football over the years to know that football managers don’t always agree on things.

Sometimes, we even see them squaring up to one another in the no man’s land between their technical areas to argue about something neither of them have any real power to change.

With 16 minutes played between Manchester City and Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, it seemed Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola were about to have such a confrontation.

Annoyed at the award of a free-kick to Liverpool, cameras trained on Guardiola as he exchanged words with Klopp. But as the former Barcelona boss took a couple of steps towards the German, it soon became clear that this was to be quite possibly the friendliest confrontation ever seen in Premier League history.

Guardiola, no stranger to taking on Klopp from his time with Bayern Munich, runs towards the Liverpool boss and exchanges a high fivey-type handshake with him on arrival.

As lovely as this was to see, we can’t help but admire the way the pair continue to express their difference in opinion.
