It’s amazing to think that Alexandre Pato is still just 25 years old.
Much was expected of the Brazilian when he signed at AC Milan in 2007 from Internacional but after a string of injuries badly impacted on his form, Pato found himself back in his homeland six years later. After a spell with Corinthians, he currently plies his trade with Sao Paulo.
Hopes of resurrecting what seemed like a very bright career might appear slim for Pato, but finishes like this add support to the whole ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ theory.
Receiving the ball on the far edge of the area thanks to a flick-on by a teammate, Pato quickly controls the ball before bending a right-footed effort into the corner of goal.
A few more strikes like this and you wouldn’t rule out a return to Europe for the former Milan man.
