Ryan Giggs names two of his former teammates in his Premier League team of the season

Hard to argue with...

The end of the football season is in sight, folks.

With the nominees for the two big PFA Awards out in the open, we’re firmly on the home stretch. Because of this, we’re now likely to see pretty much every person to have played professional football at some point in their life name their Premier League teams of the season in the weeks ahead.

In fact, it’s already started.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has had plenty of time on his hands this season and has put it to good use in order to become one of the first to announce his XI.

Appearing in the Telegraph, Giggs has named two of his old Manchester United teammates in the XI, along with five players from Tottenham, three from Chelsea and one from Liverpool.

Giggs opts for David De Gea in goal, describing his ability to pull off ‘game-changing saves’ as the reason he gets the nod over the likes of Courtois and Lloris.

Antonio Valencia, expected by many to be Manchester United’s player of the season this year, is named at right back, next to a centre back pairing of David Luiz and Toby Alderweireld – who Giggs believes is the best defender in the league. Danny Rose is Giggs’ choice at left-back, with Giggs comparing him to Patrice Evra.

In midfield, he goes for N’Golo Kante – who he adds would’ve got his vote for player of the year – along with Spurs’ Mousa Dembele.

Ahead of them he names Eden Hazard, who he describes as the best attacking player in the league, alongside Dele Alli and Adam Lallana. Harry Kane completes the XI as the lone striker, with Giggs claiming his high work rate sees him get in ahead of Romelu Lukaku.
