Ready to read far too deeply into another Antoine Griezmann-related update, Manchester United fans?
Of course you are. That’s exactly why you’re here.
With the French international seemingly on the cusp of a move to Old Trafford one minute and staying put at Atletico Madrid the next, an eager bunch of United fans are choosing not to revise for their end of school year exams and are busily sifting through their social media feeds for the slightest hint of a clue as to where his future might lie.
The latest ‘clue’ comes from an advert for Huawei Mobile in which Griezmann has a cameo.
The ad, which features below, sees the 26-year-old posing for photographs with a fan in a restaurant when he receives a call. A glance at his watch reveals that the person calling just so happens to be some bloke called ‘José’ – something which many have taken to be a not-so-subtle reference to United’s manager, Mr Mourinho.
Worryingly for those United fans that genuinely believe this sort of shit, Griezmann appears to reject the call. Or maybe he doesn’t – some have pointed out that there’s no option to answer the call, but whatever…
Is this a sign that he’s snubbing a move to United or purely a coincidence? Perhaps it’s a genius bit of advertising for a company that saw the Griezmann-to-United saga looming on the horizon a few months ago? Either way, it’s got some people talking and other people (like us) writing stories like this…
