Manchester United reject huge Real Madrid offer for David De Gea, claims report

Here we go again....

And so it begins.

Another transfer window looms, and with that comes the promise of more Real Madrid interest in David De Gea.

Having come a dodgy fax machine away from capturing the Manchester United goalkeeper on deadline day a couple of years ago, the recently crowned Spanish champions – who look to win their third European Cup in four seasons in Cardiff on Saturday night – are said to be sniffing around him yet again.

With Zinedine Zidane preparing for the meeting with Juventus at the weekend, it’s being reported that Real have lodged a £60m bid with United for De Gea. News of the development comes from The Sun, who claim that the 26-year-old ‘wishes to return home’. They also state that although United have knocked back the bid, Real are set to come back with an improved offer.

De Gea, who signed for United from Real’s city rivals Atletico in 2011, will become the world’s most expensive goalkeeper if the deal does eventually go through.

The news follows recent reports that suggested that Jose Mourinho and his staff were confident that De Gea would remain at Old Trafford next season after the club secured a return to the Champions League through last week’s Europa League final win over Ajax.
