Tyson Fury responds to criticism from Anthony Joshua with Instagram rant

Seems like Joshua hit a nerve

There was no trash talk whatsoever in the build-up to Anthony Joshua’s fight against Vladimir Klitschko in April.

The two men couldn’t have been more respectful of each other. It helped that they then delivered the best heavyweight bout for a very long time. But the two proved that trash talk isn’t necessary to sell a fight.

That won’t be the case if Joshua ever steps into the ring with Tyson Fury. There will be lots of trash talk, mostly from Fury and the interest will be massive. Hopefully the fight at the end of it matches Klitschko v Joshua.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has repeatedly said a lot has to happen before the two British heavyweights can fight, and it looks like Joshua’s next bout will be a rematch with Klitschko.

However, he and Fury continue to land verbal jabs on each other. Joshua has labelled Fury’s November 2015 win over Klitschko as “boring.”

“He didn’t throw a punch. He didn’t come to fight,” the 27-year-old told Sky Sports on Tuesday.

“He just walked around the ring for like 12 rounds, it’s boring. It’s not winning, it’s how you win.

“His stock didn’t rise. Your stock has got to rise and he could have had the better win, but when people look at it, many years after, ask them whose fight they will remember.”

This is tame criticism from AJ, particularity compared to when Fury called him a “fraud” and a “bodybuilder.” However, it hasn’t gone down well with the Manchester boxer, and seems to hit a nerve.

Fury responded to the criticism via Instagram, once again challenging Joshua to a fight. He also labelled the heavyweight champion a “big bully” and said he is “more Nigerian” than Joshua, who was born in Watford to a family of Nigerian descent.

You can watch Fury’s rant here, if you want. If not, we’re sure he’ll be back again soon with more to say about Joshua.
