After the sales of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez – as well as the expiration of Falcao’s loan deal – Manchester United have been left low on strikers this season.
However, after handing £58m arrival Anthony Martial the coveted No.9 shirt, it looks like there won’t be any established names arriving at Old Trafford before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
While Martial often featured as a wide player for Monaco, his squad number implies Louis van Gaal is willing to take a risk and test the youngster as a striker.

Martial joined Monaco from Lyon for just £3m two years ago, and the latter have sent their best wishes with this photo from his time at the club.
