Marco Verratti is a very, very good football player.
So good, in fact, that the Italian international has been regularly linked with a big money switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Barcelona this summer.
It remains to be seen if such a move materialises in the coming weeks, but we do now know that the 24-year-old has got himself a new agent. A post on the player’s Instagram confirmed that he has now become a client of Mino Raiola.
Raiola is of course the same agent that made a sizeable chunk of money out of Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United from Juventus last summer. He’s also reported to have done quite well out of Romelu Lukaku’s move to United a couple of weeks ago.
As well as Pogba and Lukaku, his clients also include United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sergio Romero. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who spent last season at Old Trafford, is also another of his stable.
So, with such strong links to United, you can probably guess the conclusions some of the club’s supporters were jumping to in light of the latest development with Verratti.
With Jose Mourinho said to be on the look out for a new midfielder, some were starting to get a little too excited at the prospect of the Italian moving to Manchester…
