Google trends map shows where Premier League clubs dominate around the world

There are some surprises here...

Kevin Beirne

It’s no secret that the Premier League has become a league for the entire world, not just England (and Wales).

But just how popular are English clubs abroad? Well, Google have built a handy interactive map to show which team has the most Google searches in each country.

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United appear to be the most popular worldwide as they dominate the UK and Ireland as well as China, India and the US.

Despite the obvious Russian influence at Chelsea, Arsenal have the most searches in Roman Abramovich’s homeland, while Liverpool’s international appeal appears to be waning after a few down years.

Google have made an interesting decision to include Manchester City in the legend on the map, but we can’t seem to find any countries with their colours.
