The transfer window might have slammed shut, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost for Premier League clubs.
It is still possible to sign unattached players at any point in the season, providing said player was without a club before the end of the window.

Ron Vlaar
A World Cup star who’s still just 30 years old? Surely countless clubs should be rushing for Vlaar’s signature.
Sure, he might have had his injury troubles in the past, and isn’t fit right now, but a former Premier League captain with years of top-flight experience would surely be a great addition to many teams looking for defensive reinforcements.
Yoann Gourcuff
There was a time when Gourcuff was one of the sought-after players in Europe, but his career stagnated after a big-money move to Milan in 2006.
Since then, however, he worked hard on rebuilding his reputation back in France, and still possesses the deft touch and silky skills that initially brought him attention in the first of his two spells with Lyon.
Carlton Cole
The former West Ham and Chelsea striker is getting on in years, but did a decent job for the London club after re-signing on an 18-month deal.
He wouldn’t be a first choice by any means, but Premier League experience could be handy for one of a number of clubs.
Ezequiel Schelotto
It was just three years ago that Schelotto was so highly thought of in Italy that coach Cesare Prandelli handed him an international debut against England.
Still just 26, he has left Inter Milan after a loan-filled spell and is available on a free. Swiss club Sion have been linked with the winger, but an English club might still be able to sneak in if they’re quick.
Kevin Nolan
Another newly released Premier League player, Nolan is so hungry for action that he agreed to cancel his West Ham contract with a year to go.
