Neymar’s PSG move could spell bad news for Man United’s Griezmann deal

There we were, thinking we'd heard the last of Antoine Griezmann this summer

It’s looking increasingly likely that Neymar is on his way out of Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain are reported to be close to striking a deal for the Brazilian, which would see them meet the near-£200m buy-out clause in his current Barca contract.

With Neymar’s switch to the French capital reportedly set for completion within a matter of days, thoughts have already turned to who might replace him at the Camp Nou.

One report, from Marca, could spell bad news for Manchester United’s hopes of bringing Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford.

The French international appeared certain to be heading to Old Trafford earlier this summer, even speaking openly about the possibility of a move during a television interview. However, a transfer ban for Atletico Madrid complicated matters, and Griezmann responded to the development by committing his immediate future to La Liga club.

Although many still expect Griezmann to arrive at United at some point in the next year, Neymar’s departure from Barcelona could pose a problem. The report in Marca suggests that Barca will now target Griezmann, and are even willing to pay a figure of around £90m to help secure his signature.

Clearly, Atleti’s transfer ban means it’s unlikely that Griezmann will leave this summer, but United could now face serious competition for the player when he does become available.
