By toying with genre conventions and adopting a post-Scream knowingness, David Robert Mitchell has created a film that’s almost universally adored by critics everywhere – it currently rates 97% on Rotten Tomatoes from 225 reviews.
In their review, The Guardian stated that they “don’t think I have ever had a nightmare quite as scary as this film – a modern classic of fear to be compared to something by a young Carpenter or De Palma.”
“A first-rate horror movie, It Follows adds a new monster to the pantheon,” is how Empire described it while The Telegraph praised it as a “tender, remarkably ingenious and scalp-pricklingly scary.”
