Nemanja Matic breaks woman’s glasses on Manchester United debut, immediately apologises

Already getting up close and personal with supporters

One female fan will never forget where she was during Nemanja Matic’s Manchester United debut.

Matic played the first half of United’s preseason friendly against Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday night and gave a solid account of his abilities.

Jose Mourinho’s latest signing was substituted at the break and was replaced by Michael Carrick for the second half.

But Matic had already left a lasting impression on the United supporters in attendance at the Aviva Stadium by that point with one fan, in particular, getting up close and personal with the Serbian.

Towards the end of the opening half, Matic intercepted the ball near the sideline and attempted to smack the ball against the advertising hoardings and back into his arms.

But it didn’t exactly go according to plan as the ball missed the hoarding entirely and smashed directly into the face of a woman sat in the front row.

We certainly hope her glasses weren’t too expensive because they broke on impact.

To be fair, Matic apologised immediately and offered the lady a hug, endearing himself to the masses just two days after he put pen to paper on his move to Old Trafford.
