People watching El Clasico are all saying the same thing

That goal from Ronaldo though.

While some football fans might have been tempted by the prospect of watching Neymar’s goalscoring debut for PSG, his former club met Real Madrid in the first-leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

After a very quiet first-half, the deadlock was broken when Gerard Pique turned the ball into his own net to give the La Liga champions the lead. In doing so, Pique became the first Barcelona player to score an own goal in El Clasico in the 21st century in all competitions.

Lionel Messi’s controversial penalty drew the game level before an absolute peach from Cristiano Ronaldo restored Real Madrid’s lead.

After being booked for taking off his shirt in celebration, the Ballon d’Or winner then received his second yellow moments later after the referee decided that the former Manchester United attacker had dived in the box under pressure from Samuel Umtiti.

Given how Luis Suarez won the penalty which Barcelona scored from, some people felt that Ronaldo was harshly treated.

Despite being down to ten men, Real Madrid extended their advantage when Marco Asensio scored a blistering breakaway goal to give Zidane’s side a commanding lead as they head into the return match.

The second-half of football was absolutely hectic and you couldn’t take your eyes off, which is ironic given Real Madrid’s choice of jersey.

After launching their new third kit, Real Madrid decided to mark the occasion by wearing it for the first time against their bitter rivals.

This being said, plenty of people felt that their famous white kit would have been a far better option to wear against a team who wear blue and burgundy.

If you found it distracting while watching on TV, you’re not the only one.
