Excellent news.
As if the return of the show in October wasn’t enough, fans of Stranger Things have been given further cause for excitement with the news that a third season of the brilliant Netflix season has been confirmed.
Not only that, but it’s highly likely that a fourth season will eventually be in the offing too.
In an interview with Vulture ahead of the return of the second season, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed that a third season is already a done deal and hinted that they would like to work on a fourth before wrapping things up for good.
“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” said Ross Duffer, who added that anything beyond a fourth season might not be a runner, saying: “I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”
The Duffers interview with Vulture comes only weeks after they spoke of plans to continue Stranger Things for more than three seasons and elaborated upon what will go down in the second season, where, they told Vulture, they “wanted to push things a bit”.
As for what’s in store for Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will and company when the story does eventually come to an end, Ross Duffer said: “They’re going to have to get the fuck out of this town! It’s ridiculous!”
Thankfully, there’s a lot more Stranger Things to come until that happens.
The second season of Stranger Things returns to Netflix on October 27.
