Manchester United want Paul Scholes to return to the club

Manchester re-United for Scholes?

The Red Devils want to be Manchester re-United with one of their favourite sons.

It’s understood that Paul Scholes is top of United’s wishlist for a position as under-19 coach.

The Daily Mirror report that, despite being far from complimentary about his former club, United are considering an offer to Scholes which will see the BT Sport pundit help out with the U19s in this season’s UEFA Youth League.

It’s former teammates Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt, not Louis van Gaal, who are actively pursuing Scholes who could be present for the games which will take place on the morning of Champions League ties – freeing him up to work on BT Sport in the evening.

Scholes spent time as U19 coach during David Moyes’ time in charge of Manchester United before deciding that a career in punditry was better suited to him.

But he seems to have changed his mind recently as he revealed that he’s itching to get back on the training pitch.

“I don’t get many offers but I miss being involved with football,” Scholes said.

“I miss the day to day involvement of just having a kick about or just playing and training with a team and I miss the Saturday afternoons.

“If something came along that I felt was right and I fancied doing, then maybe.

“I spoke to Oldham in the summer, only a brief chat with the chairman, Simon Corney. But it wasn’t the right time for me at that particular moment – in time to come, maybe.”
