Over two decades ago, Peter Schmeichel and Paul Ince played alongside each other in the first of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League-winning Manchester United sides.
This weekend, their sons – Kasper and Tom – are on opposing sides as Leicester City visit Huddersfield Town.
Kasper, whose professional career began with Manchester City, joined Leicester in 2011. Tom moved to Huddersfield in summer after two years at Derby.
Ahead of the game at the Kirklees Stadium, footage of a young Kasper and an even younger Tom has emerged on Twitter. Seemingly taken in an Old Trafford corridor, it shows Schmeichel junior asking someone called Alex (possibly Steve Bruce’s son, as someone points out in the comments) to film him.
Seconds later, he rolls a deflated football to Tom, who is encouraged to try and score a goal. Kasper saves, and although Tom looks as if he might be on the brink of tears, he swiftly gets over it.
Have a watch…
