“He has so much in him.”
Since re-signing for Manchester United in the summer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been stuck on the side-lines injured (with a December return reportedly being targeted). Yet, regardless of how his ACL is, most fans don’t see him as long-term fixture for United. At the age of 36, many won’t expect him to continue playing for that much longer.
The football world will certainly be that little bit less colourful when Zlatan does finally hang up his boots – but that day might be further away than you would think. According to his agent Mino Raiola, he could be playing for another six years.
When asked how long Zlatan had left, he told Expressen: “He has so much in him. I think minimum another five or six years”.
And he wasn’t worried about his current injury taking its toll. “Zlatan would never be broken by this injury. He is not a person who moans about himself during this injury. He is a person who takes this injury and turns it into something that makes him stronger, better and more complete.”
“I didn’t think he could be stronger, but it made him even stronger. He’s stronger than he was before.”
While Ibrahimovic is totally the sort of character you could imagine at some random side when he’s 47, there was a slight tongue-in-cheek edge to Raiola’s words. The agent explained: “I won’t let him stop, he needs to work now for me. I have been working for him for years now. Now it’s my turn. My children are grown up and I need money.”
Raiola also represents the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, so we don’t think he’ll be that short of work tbh.
