Pedro Pascal is a big loss, but the two men filling his shoes aren’t half bad.
Pedro Pascal, who played former DEA agent Javier Peña in the first three seasons of Narcos, will not play a starring role in the fourth season of the hit Netflix series.
On Tuesday, Netflix released a brief trailer for the fourth season of the show, which will be based in Mexico City, where production on the fourth season recently got underway.
While Pascal will not play a starring (if any) role in the fourth season, Netflix revealed that Michael Peña (Crash, American Hustle) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) have been added to the main cast.
Although production on the fourth season has only recently begun in Mexico, the show ran into difficulties in pre-production when a location manager seeking out potential locations for the new season was found dead in a bullet-ridden car in a rural area just outside of Mexico City earlier this year.
In the wake of the shooting, the brother of infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, whose story was the main focus of the show’s first two seasons, suggested that Netflix should provide “hitmen” to protect crew members.
The fourth season of Narcos will be released on Netflix at an as-yet-to-be-announced date in 2018.
