The creators of The Purge, Insidious and Paranormal Activity are making a new horror TV show

Prepare to be terrified.

If Marvel conquered the superhero world, it’s fair to say that the Blumhouse Productions are making also making a killing at the box-office.

Ok, we’re fairly sure that the studio executives haven’t actually murdered anyone, but given the amount of money that the likes of Get Out, Sinister, Whiplash, and their various franchises – The Purge, Insidious, Paranormal Activity etc – have made around the world, their status as the world’s most sinister studio looks safe for now.

With a new film coming out soon, Truth or Dare, audiences are in for a terrifying treat at the cinema but you won’t have to leave your house to have the crap scared out of you.

Variety are reporting that Hulu and Blumhouse Television are joining forces to create an untitled horror anthology series with a  unique approach.

“The new series, part of the Hulu Originals slate, will deliver viewers 12 self-contained stories — a new episode premiering each month over one year.” While no further details have been announced, we reckon that the show’s creators will be looking to replicate the gore and mystery that the likes of American Horror Story, Black Mirror, and the upcoming Castle Rock have managed to do.

The 12 episodes of the series are expected to tell individual tales, though there will be some kind of narrative plot that connects them. It’s very fitting that the first episode will air in October. Halloween fright, anyone?

“At the heart of the deal is an extremely passionate audience and an extremely activatable audience in terms of horror,” said Hulu chief content officer Joel Stillerman. “It’s not even the larger bucket of ‘genre.’ I would say this falls squarely into the horror bucket. And it’s brought to us by, I would say in many ways that would be hard to argue, the consummate producers in that genre today.”

If you’re a fan of The Purge franchise, you’ll also be pleased to know that a TV version of that dystopian nightmare is also coming soon.
