Tyson Fury is free to return to the ring after the British Boxing Board of Control agreed to lift his suspension subject to medical clearance.
The good news for Fury arrived on Friday, when the most significant step on the undefeated heavyweight’s comeback trail was taken.
Fury’s BBBofC licence was suspended in 2016 due to “anti-doping and medical issues” but, a month after UK Anti-Doping agreed to backdate Fury’s ban for testing positive for a prohibited substance by two years, the BBBofC sat down with the 29-year-old to discuss the possibility of reinstating his licence.
The conversation must have gone well because Fury managed to convince them to allow him to return, pending proof that he is medically fit to do so.

“Following an interview with Tyson Fury at the British Boxing Board of Control offices earlier today, the suspension of his British Boxing Board of Control boxer’s license will be lifted subject to receipt and clearance of all medical requirements,” the BBBoC said in an online statement.
Fury is in the midst of an impressive weight loss journey as he aims to lace up his gloves again, 783 days after shocking Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf.
A ketogenic diet, coupled with a dedicated training regime, has seen Fury lose more than four stone in recent months.

With the ultimate goal of facing off with Anthony Joshua in a lucrative all-British showdown to decide the baddest man on the planet, Fury is expected to take a tune-up fight in April, with Shannon Briggs touted as a potential opponent.
‘AJ’, in the meantime, is set to busy himself unifying the division, with WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker first up for Joshua in March.
Fury has recently offered to help Parker prepare for the London 2012 gold medallist.
“Joseph Parker, I’ve got a show on the night you’re boxing in England but if you want I’ll come spar you when your in the UK training for the fight… it will help both me and you, you won’t find better sparing than me I promise you. Let me know,” Fury said on social media.
