PSG hoping to beat Real Madrid to signing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea

It's always been his dream to play for Madrid

He’s hot property.

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to sign Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea, writes Guillem Balague in Spanish newspaper AS.

Courtois is currently under contract at Chelsea until 2019 and the London club have offered him a new and improved deal, but the goalkeeper has not given them an affirmative response. It has always been the player’s dream to play for Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants may have to act fast to stop him from going to PSG in the summer.

PSG would make Courtois the best paid goalkeeper in the world and the Belgian would vastly improve the the club’s defence, who currently have Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp as goalkeeper options, neither of whom have been particularly impressive this season. A defeat to Lyon on Sunday night reminded everyone of PSG’s biggest weakness, as two goals flew past Areola on the side of his near post.

It is believed that Courtois still favours a move to Real Madrid as has always been his dream and wants to return to live in the city of Madrid, where his children are.

A transfer to Madrid would receive a mixed reaction as the 25-year-old played for Los Blancos’ local rivals Atlético Madrid for three years between 2011 and 2014.

An elite goalkeeper is the next product on PSG’s shopping list and could be the final piece in the jigsaw that helps them go the distance in the Champions League.
