The investigation remains ongoing.
Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Everton on January 6th was overshadowed by an incident involving Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Everton’s Mason Holgate.
As Firmino shielded the ball on the touchline, Holgate appeared to push the Brazilian over the advertising boards, into the stands. Firmino reacted, and there was a coming together with words exchanged. Holgate then seemed to take particular offence to something that the Brazilian may have said.
An FA statement on the matter said referee Bobby Madley was “made aware of an allegation” during the game and included it in his match report.
“We will now begin making enquiries into the matter,” a spokesman said.”While that process is ongoing, we will not be making any further comment.” That was over three weeks ago and still there has been no word of an outcome.
It is not clear what the verdict will be, but Liverpool fans are growing increasingly concerned that their team could lose Firmino for a significant number of matches, if he is found guilty of any wrong-doing. This is to do with their lack of cover in forward areas.
Hi @FA any chance you could announce the result of your investigation into the #Holgate #Firmino incident? It's coming up to 3 weeks now and the silence is deafening. It's scandalous that it's taking this long when we can all see what happened!! @LFC @Everton

The concern is that, having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and loaned Daniel Sturridge to West Brom already this window, their attacking options would be drastically thinner than they were at the start of the month.
3 weeks now it's been since the firmino and holgate incident. You can smell a rat hear. What Are the odds we sell sturridge and Bobby gets stitched up and banned for 8 games.

What happens if Firmino is found guilty for racial abuse of Holgate? Has the club factored in that possibility?

Forgot Firmino could get a lengthy ban from the Holgate stuff still. Hoo boy. Good thing we're definitely not selling Sturridge and definitely not leaving ourselves high and dry with two strikers who haven't scored a goal in 2 years. Oh no wai

Imagine Firmino gets a ban for the Holgate incident and we haven't brought anyone in the window. We'd be absolutely fucked

James, what’s happening with the Firmino/Holgate case? Are the FA waiting for the transfer window to close and give Bobby an 8 game ban or something?

It’s totally bemusing and unacceptable that the Holgate/Firmino incident has not been cleared up yet. Almost two weeks.

just realized something; what if the FA decide to charge/ban Firmino for what happened w/ Holgate? our attack will be Solanke/Ings #FSGOUT

It would be very Liverpool of us after all this letting go of players and then the FA decide now is the time to make a decision on the Firmino/Holgate situation and Bobby ends up getting banned for a while…

Just wait for the transfer window to shut and watch the FA slap a 10 game ban on Firmino for abusing Holgate and see Ings leading the attack.
