They could barely watch.
Last night Dancing on IceĀ fans were forced to look away as Jake Quickenden and professional skating partner Vanessa Bauer performed the extremely dangerous ‘headbanger’ move during their on-ice routine.
Performing the move meant singer Jake, who is a complete amateur, swinging his partner around by the ankles as her head hovered only inches from the ice.
There were concerns that the couple would be able to do the move after Vanessa fell ill in training and they lost 10 hours of practice time – crucial for perfecting such an advanced sequence.

They made a last-minute decision to go for it came amid concerns for the professional skater’s safety.Ā In training before the stunt, she admitted that he had her “life in his hands” during the gravity-defying manoeuvre.
However, fortunately, the pair pulled off with aplomb.
Viewers could barely watch the routine, however, knowing that the slightest stumble or miscalculation on Quickenden’s behalf would have led to a serious injury for his skating partner.
