Watford offer bacon rolls and match tickets to fans willing to clear snow from pitch

One hell of an incentive

Stuck for breakfast? Get yourself down to Vicarage Road.

Watford are hoping to tempt supporters with bacon rolls, tea and coffee as they aim to make their pitch playable ahead of their Premier League clash with West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

The country has been ravaged by Storm Emma in recent days and ground staff up and down the nation are struggling to keep away the snow and ensure that stadiums are safe for supporters.

At the time of writing, all seven of Saturday’s Premier League games are scheduled to go ahead but Watford will need a little bit of help to ensure they make it to kick-off at 3pm.

The Hornets are also offering complimentary match tickets to fans who show up on Saturday morning and assist in the snow-clearing process.

A post on the club’s website reads: “Please enter the stadium at any time from 8:30am via the black double-gates at the south-east corner of the ground (between Rookery & SEJ Stands), where you will be greeted by staff and shown where best to help.

“To supplement the equipment available to use here at the ground, you are welcome to bring a stiff broom or plastic snow shovel.

“Please do not bring any metal spades or shovels.

“We’re not putting a cap on numbers we’d like to see here helping, but the more fans volunteer the quicker the stadium will be primed for the big Premier League match against West Brom – and you’ll be able to return to your usual pre-match routine.

“Wrap up warm and we’ll see you at The Vic bright and early.

“Thanks in advance for your help and support.”
