Man United fans furious with team selection for trip to Crystal Palace

JOE

Some Manchester United fans weren’t happy with the starting team named to play Crystal Palace.

United play Roy Hodgson’s side on Monday night in a game that could have a big say on the top four and the bottom three in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s team were in third place before the game, and Palace were third from bottom.

Here’s United’s team for the match:

And here’s the Palace XI:

Hodgson’s side are without several first-team players, and are experiencing an injury-crisis at possibly the worst time of the season.

United don’t have such problems, but Anthony Martial missed the game with injury, and wasn’t named in the squad. Jesse Lingard replaced him in the starting line-up, but some United fans were more focused on Mourinho’s defensive selections.

Luke Shaw was named on the bench and Eric Bailly, who only recently returned from injury, didn’t start either. Some United fans on social media weren’t happy with this, questioning why the popular players didn’t get the nod.
