Emre Can sustained an injury against Watford on Saturday
Liverpool gave Watford what is known in the game as an absolute thrashing on Saturday afternoon. Mohamed Salah wasn’t affected by the snow at all as he smashed four goals past Orestis Karnezis in the Watford goal. Being the gent that he is, Salah even apologised for humiliating the Hornets’ goalkeeper.
Liverpool now sit 3rd in the table on 63 points, two behind Manchester United and two in front of Tottenham, having played a game more than the rest of the top 6, with the FA Cup quarter-finals taking place this weekend.
Unfortunately, the emphatic win over Watford was slightly tainted by an injury sustained by Emre Can, who was forced off after 27 minutes and replaced by James Milner.
Jürgen Klopp has some positive news on the matter, though. Speaking in the post-match press conference, the Liverpool boss said: “He doesn’t think, and I don’t think, it is too serious – but it was too serious to continue.”
“He had that problem a little bit during the week; we gave him one day of extra recovery but he thought it would work and he trained normally yesterday”, he added.
“It is a muscle thing but it should not be that serious and he will go to the national team I think, and have their treatment.”
It seems strange that he would go with the German national team for their friendlies in this international break rather than stay at Melwood and fully recover, but it seems like he’ll be fine for Liverpool’s next match after the international break.
