After neighbours City were soundly beaten at Tottenham, Manchester United’s victory over Sunderland moved them top of the Premier League.
To one of their newest acquisitions, it was an opportunity to engage in a bit of Twitter-based gloating.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – no stranger to topping tables in his time with Bayern Munich – tweeted the following, after making a substitute appearance in Saturday’s win.

Remaining top of the Premier League next weekend may be a challenge for United, who face a difficult trip to the Emirates to face an Arsenal side fresh from putting five past Leicester City.
Before then, they have a crucial Champions League meeting with Wolfsburg at Old Trafford.
