They’ve got a lot of work to do
Manchester City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad tonight for the second leg of their Champions league quarter final. Liverpool lead 3-0 after blitzing City in the first half of the first leg, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side a lot of work to do.
Liverpool can make City’s mission almost twice as difficult if they get an away goal, which would mean City have to score five goals, having not even managed a shot on target at Anfield.
With such a mountainous task ahead of him, Guardiola has put out an extremely attacking line up.

Vincent Kompany, who scored the opener against Manchester United at the weekend, drops to the bench, while Gabriel Jesus returns to the starting line up.
But the strangest thing about the line up is the number of attackers playing at once. It appears to be a back three, with Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte playing either side of Nicolas Otamendi. But beyond that, what formation the other 7 outfield players are arranged in is anyone’s guess.

City played a back three against Liverpool in the first leg, with Walker responsible for everything that happened on his side of the pitch, Laporte staying back and Leroy Sané trying to isolate Trent Alexander-Arnold 1v1. Needless to say, it didn’t quite go to plan.
