People are furious that Leroy Sané’s goal against Liverpool was ruled offside

He looked clearly onside

It looks like an appalling decision

Manchester City got off to the perfect start against Liverpool tonight, as Gabriel Jesus scored before the two minute mark to significantly ease the load on his teammates for the rest of the game. Two more goals would level the tie, and they almost got one more before half time, when Leroy Sané bundled the ball into the net only to realise it had been ruled out for offside.

Sané being goalside of Karius with only one player between the keeper and the goal would make him offside. However, the ball came to Sané from a rebound off James Milner, after Loris Karius leapt to punch the ball clear, a plan which backfired, only to be saved by the flag.

Understandably, people were not happy with this decision, least of all City fans.

Some were more angry than others.

Pep Guardiola was obviously livid with the referee and decided to let him know.

In the second half, City need two more goals to take the tie into extra time. But if Liverpool score, Pep Guardiola’s side will need a total of five to go through, as they did not score at Anfield. They’ll be hoping a few decisions go their way in the second half.
