There was a famous incident back in the 1930s when listeners to Orson Welles’ radio dramatisation of ‘War of the Worlds’ mistakenly thought an alien attack was going on.
Now we’ve seen the incident brought into the 21st century, with the Twitter account for the Call of Duty series of games bringing updates about a supposed explosion on the Singapore Marina.

Of course, this was later revealed to be “a glimpse into the future fiction” of upcoming title Black Ops 3…but some people were less than impressed.

Black Ops 3 is due out in November, and a trailer has already been released.
