Rio Ferdinand speaks nothing but the truth about Real Madrid

Liverpool fans need to listen to this

Real Madrid are through to another Champions League final.

The European champions advanced to the final in Kiev on May 26 after a dramatic tie on Tuesday night. Zinedine Zidane’s side took a 2-1 lead into the second-leg against Bayern Munich, but it wasn’t an easy night at the Bernabeu.

Karim Benzema scored twice for the Spanish side in an entertaining and open match in the Spanish capital. Joshua Kimmich and James Rodriguez, against his parent club, netted for the visitors. Bayern will go home wondering how they failed to make their first Champions League final in five years. They threw everything at Real, but couldn’t find the goal needed to make it 4-4 on aggregate, and take them through to the final on away goals.

Ultimately, a disastrous goalkeeping error from Sven Ulreich proved to be the difference on the night, and Madrid are through again – despite not playing particularly well the night. Liverpool have the chance to book their place in the final on Wednesday night in their second-leg tie against Roma. They lead 5-2 on aggregate and only a complete collapse will see them fail to make the match against Madrid later this month.

If Liverpool fans are worried about the prospect of facing Cristiano Ronaldo and his Madrid team, they should probably listen to Rio Ferdinand. The former Manchester United defender said on BT Sport’s coverage of Tuesday’s match that Real “limped” into the final, and suggested that the team may be past their best.
