Man on recording is saying either ‘Yanny’ or ‘Laurel’ and the internet’s divided

James Dawson

Everyone seems to have a view

Look, we all remember the dress right? That was pretty big.

Your mate talked to you about that. Your mum talked to you about that. Your nan talked to you about that. It got talked about a lot by people across the world. A lot of shit was chat.

Well, I regret to inform you that we could now be looking at something of similar proportions again, judging by my Whatapp convo history tonight at least.

Let me explain. See, in an audio clip recently uploaded to Twitter you can hear a male operator saying one word – but it’s not just one word, because some people think it is one of two. ‘Laurel’ or ‘Yanny’.

That’s one word being spoken but with two interpretations. Sheer madness.

Listen then pick a side, here:

“I hear ‘Yanny.’ The sound isn’t even close to ‘Laurel’…I do not hear the ‘r,’” one person tweeted.

“Laurel wtf,” another replied.

And the debate only escalated from there.

There is division across the country. This is Brexit all over again. God save us all.
