When it’s time to go, it’s time to go
Paul Lambert and Carlos Carvalhal have left Stoke City and Swansea City respectively after failing to prevent their clubs from being relegated from the Premier League.
Lambert has left Stoke City after the Potters finished second-bottom of the Premier League. He took over in January from Mark Hughes but failed to arrest the team’s slide down the table.
Carvalhal meanwhile took over at the Liberty Stadium in December and had embarked upon a run of form which made survival increasingly likely, but a late collapse in form left them needing a 10 goal swing on the final day of the season, one which never came.
According to the BBC, Ostersunds manager Graham Potter is a favourite for the Swansea job, having previously been considered for the position prior to Carvalhal’s arrival.
Stoke meanwhile are reportedly interested in taking Sam Allardyce to the bet365 Stadium in a bid to return the club to Premier League in what will be their first season in the second tier in a decade.
