Imagine the wedge he’ll be getting from this
David De Gea is very important to Manchester United. He has won the club’s Player of the Season award four times during his seven years at the club, which is unheard of for a goalkeeper. Were it not for him, United’s slump during the Moyes and van Gaal years could have been much worse.
The Spaniard has consistently performed well for United after a shaky start, vindicating Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to stick with him during the seasons before he bulked up and ironed out the errors.
With his current contract expiring next summer, Manchester United have reportedly offered the goalkeeper a new five-year contract and are confident that he will sign it. The contract will keep De Gea, 27, at the club during his prime years.
Real Madrid have tried several times to bring De Gea to the Bernabeu, but have seemingly turned their attention towards AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson, who will start in goal for Brazil throughout the 2018 World Cup.
De Gea is currently with the Spain squad but is highly likely to put pen to paper upon his return to Old Trafford.
José Mourinho will be delighted to rule out any possibility of De Gea leaving – a great piece of business to add to the arrivals of Diogo Dalot and Fred.
