17-year-old trains with England senior team before even making his club debut

Everton youngster Tom Davies was drafted into a training session with the English senior team ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia on Friday.

The 17-year-old was brought in to make up the numbers after Wayne Rooney, Jonjo Shelvey and Danny Ings all sat out the session with various injuries.

Davies currently plays for the U17s after making his way through the ranks at Everton, the same club where Rooney made his name before moving to Old Trafford in 2004.

The England captain is still getting over an ego ankle knock from Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, and Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will deputise as captain in the striker’s absence.

Shelvey and Ings are also doubts for England’s final home qualifier, while Everton defender John Stones has already withdrawn from the squad because of injury.
